...I should know, being Peruvian, Chinese and English.
Being born in the UK doesn't automatically make you 'British.' It's essentially how you're brought up. Sometimes I feel more British than Peruvian. Other times I feel truly connected to my Latina side and yearn for hot, sticky weather, Peruvian cuisine and infinity hugs from my super affectionate family.
I read an article in Weekend magzine (The Mail) on actress Thandie Newton (who I love, but think it is a tad TOO skinny!) where she was discussing her mixed-race heritage and what it means to her. Similarly she says: "In some ways I'd say I come from Africa, but then I don't speak my mother's language, and in other ways I'm British through and through. I suppose I've never completely fitted in either place."

For those of you who don't know, her mum is Zimbabwean and her father is English.
I find that many mised-race people share these sorts of feelings. I mean it's quite reasonable to, if you are part of two different countries/cultures, then it's like two worlds, so how can you really expect to feel close to only one? I think it's good to embrace both and appreciate how each can benefit your life for the better :)
